Sometimes as parents we feel clueless in raising our kids. The examples that our parents set, the books we’ve read, and the sermons we’ve heard just don’t seem to fit the situations we’re facing right now.
Have you ever felt clueless about raising your kids? Parenting is an ongoing difficult task. We deal with behavior issues, attitudes, sibling rivalry, and even our own personal struggles all at the same time. In addition, if you are like me, we wonder if we are making right decisions along the way. Wanting to make wise decisions in raising our children is a good thing to desire. Here’s why: Parents have the greatest influence in the lives of their children. Parents set the standard for the family. And, what you model in the home has a greater impact than you would ever imagine. How you live out your faith in the home is more important than all the things you say. In Proverbs 22:6 the Bible says, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” This one passage reminds us to “train up a child.” This phrase means more than talking. It means to consistently lead, teach, and model Godly parenting over a long period of time. As you “train up” your child I want to challenge you to consistently do these five things:
